The HEL Performance multi-angle thermostatic oil filter sandwich plate is available in various configurations, offering a range of center bolt options and thermostat temperatures to cater to your specific needs. The clever multi-angle design of this sandwich plate, versus our standard sandwich plate design, allows the oil cooler hoses to run either parallel to the engine block or alternatively set away from the face of the engine block at a 45° angle. This unique flexibility allows the additional ports to be used to locate an oil sensor or any additional hose connections with ease. Equipped with a built-in thermostat, this sandwich plate ensures that your engine oil flows to the external oil cooler only when it reaches the desired operating temperature. This innovative feature not only promotes a quicker engine warm-up but also provides added safeguarding in cold weather conditions, setting it apart from non-thermostatic alternatives.

Once your engine oil reaches the pre-set temperature (82°C, 92°C, or 102°C), the valve opens, permitting the flow of oil to the external oil cooler. This results in a controlled reduction of oil temperature as it circulates through the external oil cooler, which is often equipped with cooling fins and/or with the addition of a fan to facilitate heat dissipation. Around 10% of the engine oil circulates through the oil cooler at any given time, this ensures a continuous flow that prevents air pockets and safeguards against thermal shock to the system. The surplus oil is channelled back to the engine or transmission through the internal bypass system, promoting faster warm-up and eliminating the risk of overcooling.

Our oil filter sandwich plates feature M22 x 1.5 threaded inlet and outlet ports and can be easily adapted with M22 x 1.5 to -8 (AN08) or -10 (AN10) male adapters, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of AN fittings, hose and adapters. The threaded center bolts are manufactured from high-quality stainless steel and are available in M20 x 1.5 or 3/4"-16 UNF sizes to accommodate most common spin-on oil filters. Compatible with this multi-angle sandwich plate, we offer a variety of sensor port adapters, allowing the use of oil temperature and oil pressure sensors to be integrated into to the oil system. If you prefer not to use the sensor ports, blanking plugs are included as standard.
